Happy Monday, y'all!
It's that time again... time to fling some glitter and find the happy in our Monday!
Today I want to share a little story with you.
Back in 2001, I was asked to be the coordinator for a 7th and 8th grade dance team at the high school I graduated from. I was, for all practical purposes, Miss Dancer Freak in high school. I danced on the school team, I took ballet for 18 years, I danced in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Cotton Bowl Halftimes and even the St. Patrick's Day parade in Ireland. I was kinda into it.
So I was flattered to be asked to coordinate this new little team. We brought in an instructor, I made up dances, we worked really hard! It only lasted one year, unfortunately, due to lack of interest from the girls coming up the next year. But golly, I had a GREAT little team. We kicked butt and took names.
One of the girls I still see on a regular basis. Her name's Ashlee. She's grown into a lovely young lady and is about the most talented photographer and artist I've ever met. Henry loves her and she was pretty much his first girlfriend. He'll still fight for her, I'm sure.
She asked me last week if she could come do a photo shoot for her advanced photojournalism class she has. The assignment: photograph an environmental portrait of someone we admire and find interesting that would be interesting and inspiring to others as well.
Well, all I can say to that is, "Color me flattered."
So this afternoon after Henry comes home, Ashlee is coming to my house to photograph me doing my thing. Whatever my thing may be. Juggling home/work/TheBand/the Kid/dinner/a cat/legos I can only assume! I just hope she doesn't actually want me to juggle because, duh! my juggling things are in storage!
Now, that's a BIG dose of happy and flattery right there, but here's the biggest piece of happy that comes out of it.
I made an impression on her somehow, some way.
So today, find a little something -- or a big something -- to be happy about. Write in the comments, link up with us, Tweet it out (hashtag #DOHMondays #WithTheBand), or share it with us on Facebook!
