As I’m writing this, there are warm rolls on the counter, deviled eggs and No-Bake cookies in the fridge, and a ham in the oven. You’d think it was a holiday in my house. And you’d be wrong. It’s the third Saturday of the month, and for me, it only means one thing: Bunco Time!

Bunco, for those that don’t know, is a dice game. There is absolutely NO skill involved-it’s a game of luck. Rolling dice to see the numbers, hoping it’s the one you’re rolling for (Bunco cannot be described, it’s a game where playing is understanding). Some people think it’s an “old ladies’ game” but it’s coming back for our generation.  We get a group of women together once a month and play. Women of every description. Moms or not. Single or married. Young and old. We come together and put everything else aside for one night to enjoy being ourselves outside of our normal, day-to-day selves.  We drink, we eat, we cuss like sailors, and we laugh. Oh, how we laugh. Some people fall off chairs. Some people pee their pants. But we never fail to have a good time.

A good Bunco night will last you until the next month when you realize how you’re jonesing to see your friends again and enjoy a night of letting your hair down and hanging out with the girls.
